Can you remove a Facebook review?

Page owners can’t delete recommendations themselves. Meta removes a recommendation only when it breaks its Community Standards or recommendation rules, so the way to get one down is a report that names the violation.

Key factWhat it means
Star-only ratingsRecommendations with only a star rating can’t be reported.
SpamMeta removes spam reviews, and your Page rating can change when it does.
Conflict of interestMeta tells people not to recommend a business whose Page they help manage.
Turning reviews offYou can turn off recommendations for the whole Page, which hides all reviews and your rating, not just one.
No timelineMeta doesn’t publish a timeframe or always confirm the outcome.

What Facebook will and won’t remove

1. Fake and spam recommendations

Reviews from fake accounts, review farms, and coordinated attacks.

2. Harassment, hate speech, and threats

Recommendations that attack people rather than describe the business.

3. Off-topic recommendations

Posts about politics, another business, or something unrelated to your products or services.

4. Conflicts of interest

Reviews by people who manage your Page, and reviews from competitors posing as customers.

5. Private information

Personal details about staff or customers.

What Facebook keeps: an honest opinion from a real customer, even a harsh one, and star-only ratings.

Facebook review removal FAQs

Can I delete a Facebook review on my Page?

No. Page owners can’t delete recommendations. You can report ones that break Meta’s standards or turn off recommendations for the whole Page.

What Facebook reviews can be removed?

Spam and fake reviews, harassment and hate, off-topic posts, reviews from people who manage the Page, and reviews with private information.

Can star-only ratings be removed?

Meta says recommendations that only include a star rating can’t be reported.

Should I turn off Facebook reviews?

Only as a short-term response to an attack. Turning off recommendations hides all your reviews and your rating, including the good ones.

How much does it cost?

You get a free assessment and a firm quote first. Pay after removal and payment plans are available.

Do I pay if it isn’t removed?

No. On pay-after-removal cases there’s no upfront fee. On prepaid cases, if we agree to remove a review and can’t, you get your money back.

How long does it take?

Meta doesn’t publish a timeline. Most Facebook removals we take on resolve within 2 to 6 weeks.

Can you remove Facebook posts and comments too?

Yes. See our Facebook content removal service.

Are you a law firm?

No. Defamation Defenders is a reputation management company. When a case needs legal action, we work with partner attorneys.
